Screamify confirmed Monday that BIRDNADO, the avian-storm horror event it first teased in late March, has officially entered development. The studio said the film is now being produced in conjunction with ViperFX Studio, marking the project's move from announced concept to active production.

Screamify first put Birdnado on the record back on March 29, when a short teaser went up introducing the premise: an unprecedented storm system made of birds descending on an unsuspecting town. That teaser has since crossed 346,000 views on YouTube, a number Screamify pointed to Monday as part of the case for moving the project forward.

Screamify's BIRDNADO Officially Enters Development With ViperFX Studio

The official long-form synopsis, per Screamify: "BIRDNADO is a Screamify Original feature film in development — a horror event in which an unprecedented avian storm system descends on an unsuspecting town. Cast, crew, and release details will be announced." The studio is running two shorter loglines alongside it: "It was supposed to be migration season. Then the sky started to rotate." and, shorter still, "The sky is not safe."

Birdnado carries an SMP-2 (Enhanced Practical) rating under the Synthetic Motion Picture Ratings System Screamify adopted earlier this month. SMP-2 covers productions in the 15-to-35-percent AI range, permitting digital doubles and AI-generated backdrops behind a live cast — meaning the storm itself is expected to lean on digital effects while principal performances stay practical.

No cast, director, or writer has been announced. A Screamify representative said those details, along with a release window, will follow as production firms up. The studio's own materials list Birdnado as coming in 2027.

The partnership with ViperFX Studio is the first production credit disclosed for the project. Screamify did not detail what ViperFX Studio's role will cover beyond the joint-development credit.

Birdnado's teaser and updates are running through the film's own Instagram, @birdnadomovie. Press inquiries are being routed to Screamify Media Relations at info@screamify.com.

Horror Beat will follow with casting and release-date coverage as Screamify discloses it.
