Casting and Crew

Tom Rhys Harries is cast in the lead role of Matt Hagen, the character who becomes the villain Clayface. The supporting cast includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James. James Watkins, known for 'The Woman in Black' and 'Speak No Evil,' directs the film. Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini wrote the screenplay, a collaboration that followed their previous work on 'Drive.'

The Story

The narrative follows Matt Hagen, a former Gotham street kid who rises to Hollywood stardom before a crime boss’s actions leave him disfigured. After his team abandons him, Hagen undergoes an experimental treatment that restores his appearance. This restoration destabilizes his grasp on reality, driving him down a path of revenge. Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, describes the project as an origin story for the classic Batman villain. It blends body horror with themes of identity loss and scientific ambition.
