Casting for Gore Wars, the practical-effects competition series in development at indie horror streamer Screamify, is open now at gorewars.com — and as of July 21, the bar to entry just dropped.
The produced audition tape is gone. Artists no longer have to shoot anything new. The new requirement: a reel or examples of existing practical FX work — prosthetics, makeup, blood rigs, creature builds, gore gags — running about three minutes, max. If it already exists on a hard drive, it qualifies.
The rules stay strict where it counts. Practical only. No AI. No CGI. The series is built around effects that exist in front of a camera — visible rigs, sculpted prosthetics, pumped blood.
The numbers: on the show itself, the winning artist takes a $10,000 grand prize. And to be precise about what this is — a casting call for a series in development, not a sweepstakes. A reel puts an artist up for the cast; the $10,000 is what the winner earns on the show.
The fine print
Casting closes August 20, 2026. Open to US residents 18 and over. Work must be the applicant's own, with rights to share it, and everyone on camera must have consented to appear.
One more line in the terms worth flagging: Screamify pledges that submissions are watched by human producers for casting purposes only and are never used to train AI. The campaign itself is walking that walk — all of the casting promo art is authentic public-domain classic-horror imagery, not generated.
