Screamify has a new nightmare on the slate. The Nashville-based independent horror streaming platform announces Ravenmocker, the newest entry in its proprietary Micro Horror™ format — 20 vertically-shot episodes, roughly two minutes each, every single one ending on a cliffhanger.

The announcement comes with fresh tape: on the red carpet at the Micro Horrors™ premiere in Nashville, Screamify podcast host John Vann pulled director Gabe McCauley and producer Joel McAfee aside on camera to talk about the project. Watch the 42-second interview above.

The setup: 1971. A carload of teenagers breaks down on a rural Tennessee backroad and crosses into the hunting ground of the Ravenmocker — the heart-stealing witch drawn from Cherokee folklore, bound to the land by a Civil War love story that ended in blood. The story moves between the 1860s and 1971.

The vertical, phone-first format is the whole play: Micro Horrors™ are built to be watched in a scroll, and Screamify is betting a cliffhanger every two minutes keeps thumbs off the home button.

The credits are stacked. Ravenmocker is written by John White, directed by Gabe McCauley, and produced by Soul Feather Studios — the two-time National Daytime Emmy-winning Nashville production company behind PBS's Reconnecting Roots, which won two 2024 Daytime Emmys including Outstanding Writing Team. Laryssa Goodlad executive produces for Screamify and Oh Gosh Yeah Entertainment, LLC. The series was developed by Screamify Originals under the supervision of Goodlad and consulting development producer John Vann.

"I'm excited about seeing a concept that's based in Tennessee and based in the Civil War era come to the micro-horror format," McAfee said. "It's a really unique story on its own, and I think it's going to really excel in the format."

Ravenmocker joins a Micro Horrors™ slate that already includes Autonomous, Game Night: Survive the Slasher, and Scary Mary.

The series is coming soon to Screamify on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, and Samsung smart TVs, with LG support on the way. No premiere date has been announced. More as we get it.
