The second official trailer for Whalefall drops today. The footage centers on the film’s core horror conceit. A man survives inside the stomach of a giant sperm whale.
Austin Abrams stars as Jay Gardiner. The character dives off the central California coast to find his late father’s remains. The dive goes wrong. A massive sperm whale swallows Jay whole.

He is now trapped. The trailer highlights the ticking clock. Jay has only one hour of oxygen remaining. Survival hinges on lessons and advice inherited from his father.
Josh Brolin portrays the father figure. The supporting cast includes Elisabeth Shue, Jane Levy, John Ortiz, and Emily Rudd.

Behind the Lens
Brian Duffield directs. He is known for No One Will Save You. Duffield co-writes the screenplay with Daniel Kraus. The script is based on Kraus’s 2023 novel.
20th Century Studios produces the film. It hits theaters on October 16.
Abrams also stars in Zach Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil. That film opens in theaters this September. The release schedule keeps Abrams in high demand.
